Secondhand clothing for the whole family fills this Providence thrift store, along with dinnerware, accessories, books, housewares and electronics. Savers is a for-profit company, so shopping here does not benefit a charity, but donating does. For every donation dropped off at the on-site donation center, Savers pays Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island, which provides mentors to young people across the state.
Donations accepted include backpacks and purses, bed and bath goods, shoes, sporting goods, toys, media, small appliances and small furniture, and donors get a discount on their next purchase. Shoppers 55 and older get a discount every Tuesday, and Super Savers Club members have their own sales. The store is open seven days a week, into the evening, under big red Savers lettering on a pale tower above the entrance.
