Questions, answered

Finding stores, claiming yours, plans, items for sale and keeping your page up to date.

Finding stores

How do I find thrift stores near me?
Type a city, state or ZIP code into the search box at the top of any page, or pick your state on the homepage and then your city. Each store shows its hours, an "Open now" tag, the address with directions, the phone number and any photos.
Can I find stores that sell furniture or antiques?
Yes. The furniture and antiques pages list every state and city with stores that carry them, and you can search by city from either page.
Are the store hours right?
Hours confirmed by the store, or updated recently, show as normal. Hours we haven't been able to confirm are marked "Unconfirmed", so it's worth calling before a long drive. Small charity shops change their hours often, especially around holidays.
Can I save stores I like?
Yes. With a free account, tap the heart on any store page to save it. Your saved stores are in your dashboard.
How do I leave a review?
Sign in, open the store's page and scroll to Reviews. You can edit or delete your own review any time. Store owners on Basic or Pro can reply publicly.
Does ThriftStores.net sell anything?
No. We don't sell items or take payments for stores. Some stores post items for sale on their page; you ask about those, buy and pick up directly from the store.

Claiming your store

My store is already on the site. How do I take it over?
At the bottom of your store's page, press Claim it for free, or find your store here by city, state or ZIP. Sign in or create an account, tell us how you're connected to the store, and send the claim. Most stores are already on the site, so check before adding a new one.
Does claiming cost anything?
No. Claiming is free and puts your store on the Free plan, where you can keep the hours, address, phone number and photos correct. You can move up to Basic or Pro whenever you like.
How do you check that I run the store?
A person reviews every claim before it's approved. We may contact you, usually through the store's listed phone or email, if something doesn't match. You'll get an email as soon as it's approved, and the store appears in your dashboard.
Someone else already claimed my store. What can I do?
We never hand a store to a new person without checking. Contact us with the store's name and address and how you're connected to it, and we'll sort it out.

Adding a new store

How do I add a thrift store that isn't on the site?
Go to Add your store, choose a plan and fill in the store's name, address, hours, contact details and what it sells. Adding a new store takes Basic ($19 a year) or Pro ($39 a year).
What do I get when I add my store?
A full store page with your hours and "Open now" tag, address and directions, phone, as many photos as you like, a "Verified owner" badge, your own description, website, Facebook and an email button, a section for what you take as donations, and an email whenever someone reviews you. Pro adds the top spot in your city and state, items for sale, a sale sign, a big photo card in search and a place on the homepage.
How long until my store shows up?
Your page goes live as soon as you finish adding it, and it appears in city, state and nearby searches on the site. Google and other search engines pick it up over the following days or weeks.
What kinds of stores can be added?
Thrift, charity and resale shops: Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat ReStores, church and hospital thrift shops, resale chains like Plato's Closet, and single antique stores. Consignment-only shops, pawn shops, flea markets and donation drop-off points aren't a fit.

Plans and billing

Free

$0

Claim your store. Keep hours, address, phone and photos right.

Basic

$19/year

Verified owner badge, your story, website and email, donations, review replies.

Pro

$39/year

Top of your city and state, items for sale, a sale sign, homepage spot.

What's the difference between Free, Basic and Pro?
Free lets you keep your store's facts and photos right. Basic ($19/year) adds the Verified owner badge, your description, website, Facebook and email, a donations section, review alerts and replies. Pro ($39/year) adds the top spot in your city and state results, items for sale, a sale sign, a big photo card and highlighted map pin, and a spot among the featured stores on the homepage.
Can I upgrade, downgrade or cancel?
Yes, any time, from Plan & billing in your dashboard. Upgrades start right away and you only pay the difference for the rest of your year. Downgrades credit unused time to your next renewal. If you cancel, you keep your plan to the end of the year you paid for, then move to Free.
What is a boost?
A boost puts your store at the very top of your city and state results, marked Sponsored, for a set time: 7 days for $9.99, 14 days for $17.99 or 30 days for $29.99. It's a one-time charge, not a subscription, and works on any plan, including Free.
Do you take a commission on sales?
No. You pay the yearly plan price and nothing else. Shoppers contact and visit you directly.

Items for sale

How do I post items for sale?
Items are part of Pro. From your dashboard, open your store and go to Items for sale. Upload photos (one photo makes one item), then add a name and price to publish it. There's no checkout: shoppers call or email you about an item, with its name filled in for them.
Where do my items show up?
On your store page, on each item's own page, and on the "New finds" page for your city, which is linked from the city's store results.
How long does an item stay up?
Seven days from when you post, edit or renew it. The day before items come down we email you a link to keep them up for another week. Mark an item Sold and it shows a Sold stamp for three days, then disappears.
Can I see if anyone is interested?
Yes. Your dashboard shows how many people viewed each item and how many asked about it by phone or email.
What happens to my items if I leave Pro?
Nothing is deleted. They're hidden from your page and come back if you return to Pro.

Updating information

How do I change my store's hours, address or phone?
Sign in, open your dashboard and press Edit next to your store. Changes show on your page straight away. If you change the address, the map pin moves with it.
How do I add or change photos?
From your dashboard, press Manage Photos next to your store. Every plan, including Free, can add as many photos as it likes, up to 20 at a time. Your photos replace the ones we added before you claimed the store.
I don't run the store, but its information is wrong. How do I tell you?
Press Suggest an edit on the store's page and choose what's wrong: address, hours, phone or website, or that it has closed. A person checks every report and fixes the page.
A store has closed. Can you remove it?
Yes. Use Suggest an edit on its page and choose "Permanently closed". If you own the store, contact us and we'll take the page down.

Your account

Do I need an account?
Not to browse. A free account lets you save stores and write reviews, and owners need one to claim or add a store. You can sign up with email, Google or Apple.
I forgot my password.
On the sign in page, choose "Forgot password" and we'll email you a link to set a new one. If you signed up with Google or Apple, use that button instead.
How do I delete my account?
Go to your account settings in the dashboard and choose Delete My Account. If you have a paid plan, cancel it first from Plan & billing.
