Savers in East Providence takes donations at its on-site Community Donation Center and is open seven days a week, into the evening. Clothing and shoes, bags, bed and bath items, electronics, books, toys, housewares, small appliances and small furniture are all accepted. Donations are collected for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island, and Savers pays the group for them to help fund its youth mentoring.
The company that runs the store is for-profit, so purchases themselves do not benefit the nonprofit. Shelves and racks carry clothing for the whole family, along with dinnerware, accessories and media. Every Tuesday is Senior Tuesday for shoppers 55 and older, and Super Savers Club members get members-only sales. Big red lowercase letters spell out the store's name across its tan front.
