Sales at Cause For Paws Thrift Store fund Cause for Paws, a registered North Carolina nonprofit that rescues dogs and cats from local animal shelters, bad situations and poor living conditions. The group places those animals with foster homes and adoptive families. Its funds pay for spaying and neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, surgery, rehab and longer-term veterinary care. Since 2015 the rescue has saved more than 4,000 animals.
The Raleigh shop takes in-person donations of resale items and pet supplies, and donors can also schedule a pickup. Its doors are open seven days a week. A blue-and-white sign with dog and cat silhouettes hangs over the entrance, and the storefront signs for clothes, household goods and furniture are in both English and Spanish.
