Every dollar of profit from The Giving Tree goes back to 19 local K-12 schools, including public, private and charter schools. The shop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit run by The Giving Tree Foundation, and its sales fund the schools' educational, enrichment and extracurricular programs. The thrift and gift shop sells donated home goods: furniture, decor, collectibles, artwork and children's items. Alongside the donated stock it carries new jewelry, scarves, soaps and lotions.
Donations of home goods are accepted at the shop on the same days it is open, a little after opening until shortly before closing. The store is open six days a week and closed on Sundays, and it does not take donations on Black Friday. Out front, a wide wooden porch with hanging flower baskets leads up to the door, with a coral rocking chair sitting by the steps.
