This Waynesville resale shop is run by Mountain Projects, a community action agency that works on the root causes of poverty. Every purchase funds the agency's programs for local families, including housing help, senior services and early childhood education. The store carries designer clothing, housewares, furniture and home décor. Volunteers sort incoming donations every week and separate what's ready for the sales floor from what goes to recycling.
Donations can be dropped off at the store, or a pickup can be scheduled. Furniture, clothing, linens, shoes, toys, artwork, glassware, jewelry and kitchen items are welcome, but mattresses, paint, old TVs, electronics and appliances that don't work are not. A dark sign with a mountain outline and a puzzle-piece heart hangs on the store's red brick wall, and it is open every day except Sunday.
