A home improvement resale store, the Habitat ReStore in Traverse City is run by Habitat for Humanity Grand Traverse Region, and every purchase and donation goes toward building homes for working families in the community. Its stock covers appliances, furniture, cabinets, flooring, lamps, fixtures, tools, building materials and housewares. Keeping these goods out of landfills is also part of the store's purpose.
The store takes donations, and the organization also offers donation pick-ups. Shoppers can join a loyalty program, and veterans get a discount every day with ID. The store is open four days a week and closes on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays. Rows of upholstered sofas and armchairs fill the sales floor in front of shelves stocked with housewares and lamps.
