In Traverse City, the Women's Resource Center runs this thrift shop to fund its work protecting, sheltering and empowering people affected by domestic and sexual violence. Over more than 20 years, the thrift operation has grown from a modest start into a critical source of revenue for that mission, and all funds raised stay within the organization. Each month the shop also gives clothing and household goods free of charge to community members who need them.
Donations of men's, women's and children's clothing, shoes, jewelry, toys, dishes, housewares, small kitchen appliances, bedding and linens are accepted Monday through Saturday. The doors are open seven days a week. Out front, a dark square sign carries the shop's motto, "Spend less, give more."
