CP Thrift Shop goes back to 1941, when Community Projects, Inc. started as the Napa chapter of British War Relief and opened a salvage shop. The group took its current name in 1945 and bought its own building in 1956. The shop now carries antiques, books, collectibles, jewelry, clothing, toys, fabric and linens, along with vintage finds such as old buttons for craft projects.
The shop is open four days a week, and donations are taken on a separate weekly schedule because the donation space fills up quickly. Every holiday season since 2003, the Treasures of Christmas Past event has turned the store into a Christmas wonderland. The cream stucco building has the shop's name in large blue letters above blue-trimmed windows set between diamond motifs.
