Donations are accepted Wednesday through Saturday at Pennies For Change Thrift Boutique, a Durham, North Carolina, shop that is open six days a week, Sundays included, and closed on Mondays and major holidays. All proceeds support victims of domestic, family and sexual violence and human trafficking through the Durham Crisis Response Center, which runs the boutique.
The center behind the store provides crisis services, legal advocacy, emergency shelter, counseling and support groups, as well as trainings and community outreach. Its work also covers stalking, cyber safety, teens and LGBTQ+ survivors. Shoppers come in through a brick-red door with a tall glass panel framed in white.
