Donations dropped off at this Medford Savers benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island. The store pays that nonprofit for the goods, and the money helps fund one-to-one mentoring for children facing adversity. Savers itself is a for-profit company, so purchases don't support the charity. The donation center takes clothing and shoes, bed and bath goods, books and media, electronics, toys and games, housewares, sporting goods, small appliances, small furniture, backpacks and purses.
The racks and shelves hold clothing for the whole family, along with dinnerware, accessories, books, housewares and electronics. Shoppers 55 and older get a discount every Tuesday, and dropping off a donation earns a coupon for a later purchase. The store is open seven days a week, into the evening, and a large pink Savers sign sits above its beige front.
