As a resale ministry of First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, Second Time Around Resale (STAR) has served the community since 1976. It is staffed entirely by volunteer Partners, and its sales fund tens of thousands of dollars each year for local groups such as Meals on Wheels of Cooke County, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cooke County, CASA and Abigail's Arms.
STAR takes donations of clothing, household goods, sports equipment and other new and used items. Drop-offs come in through the donations door facing Main Street on Tuesday mornings and during shopping hours. Shoppers can visit on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Furniture donors are asked to call ahead, and items should never be left outside. The storefront is made of pale, pitted stone, and the church's cross-and-flame emblem is on its glass doors.
