In Lenoir, the Habitat ReStore raises money for Caldwell County Habitat for Humanity, a faith-based organization that builds affordable homes in partnership with local families. Its sales give that work a steady source of funding, and the store keeps tons of materials out of landfills. Its stock includes new and used furniture, appliances, home décor and building materials. Upholstered sofas and sectionals fill much of the sales floor, and carved wooden headboards stand in a row along one wall.
The ReStore opens for shopping only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Its inventory comes from donations by local residents and businesses, arrives in weekly shipments and changes all the time. Drop-offs are accepted Tuesday through Saturday, and pickups of larger donations can be scheduled by phone.
