In Southport, North Carolina, Sheltered Treasures Three is a thrift store run by Providence Home, and all of its proceeds support the youth services that organization provides. Providence Home runs the Family Emergency Teen Shelter, a private nonprofit that offers free emergency residential care to teens in crisis, with family reunification as its goal.
The shelter was started by area churches, civic groups and volunteers, who used grants, donations and fundraisers to buy and renovate the old Dosher House as an emergency youth shelter. The organization is licensed by the State of North Carolina. Above the entrance, a white gable carries the store's name in red, with a blue "Clothing" sign along the roofline. The store is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.
