Leftover building materials from builders and contractors fill this Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Southport, along with discontinued and returned items. Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity runs the store. People remodeling their homes donate their old appliances, cabinets, windows, doors and fixtures, which then go back on sale for someone else to use.
The store offers a pickup service for donations, so people who are moving can have their unwanted furniture and household goods collected instead of packing them or holding a yard sale. Every donor gets a receipt for a tax deduction. The ReStore is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. The building is bright blue with a red awning, and wooden rocking chairs and other furniture sit out front by the entrance.
