Every purchase at the Sunset Beach CIS Thrift Shop helps fund Communities In Schools, the nonprofit whose programs and services support local public school students. The shop also gives students chances to build job skills and promotes community recycling and reuse. Donations are accepted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, and volunteers sort and process them for the sales floor.
The shop is open six days a week and closed on Sundays. Its checkout counter sits under a wooden pergola strung with lights and seashell decorations, and glass shelving along one wall holds glassware. Volunteers who help with donations, recycling and customer service get a discount on shop merchandise. Sale and promotion updates are posted on the CIS Thrift Shops Facebook page.
