Since 1942, volunteers have run this charitable shop in Ypsilanti, Michigan, with all profits going to local charities. The shop carries clothing and shoes for the whole family, including scrubs and athletic and leisure wear, along with jewelry, housewares, bedding, crafts, books, movies and music. A better-brands section, marked with green dots, sits up front. The white brick building has a band of red and green diamonds beneath its roofline.
The donations most needed are linens, especially sheet sets, blankets and towels, plus men's coats, baby and toddler clothing, pots and pans, silverware and small kitchen appliances that work. Baby equipment, computers, stereo equipment and sporting goods other than clothing and shoes are not accepted. The Ypsilanti Thrift Shop is open six days a week and closed Sundays.
