Savers in Centereach sells secondhand clothing for the whole family, plus dinnerware, accessories, books, housewares and electronics. The store is run by TVI, Inc., a for-profit company, so purchases alone do not benefit a nonprofit. Long chrome racks of clothing on clear hangers fill the sales floor, with a red sign marking the men's section. It is open seven days a week, with evening hours.
Every Tuesday is Senior Tuesday for shoppers 55 and older, and Super Savers Club members earn rewards and get members-only sales. Donors who drop off clothing or household goods get a discount on their next purchase. Accepted items include electronics, sporting goods, toys, small appliances and small furniture. Savers takes these donations on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island and pays the group for the goods.
