A charity resale shop run by NCJW|LA, The Council Shop puts its profits into programs that build financial resilience for women in Los Angeles. The shops provide more than 73% of the organization's operating budget. Its stock includes clothing for women, men and children, along with shoes, jewelry, housewares, books, records, home décor and some furniture. Shoppers 64 and older get a senior discount every Wednesday.
The shop takes in-store donations of clothing, accessories, kitchen goods and certain furniture, and pickups can be scheduled from home. It does not accept food, baby items, mattresses or large appliances. The doors are open seven days a week and stay open into the evening on at least one day. A long blue sign with cream lettering calls it the Council Thrift Shop & Donation Center.
