Sales at this Arcadia resale shop support the Homeless to Forever Foundation, a nonprofit animal rescue. The foundation finds adoptive homes for cats, dogs and other animals that local shelters had scheduled for euthanasia. Most of its rescues come from the Riverside County shelter system and the Devore shelter, which rank among the highest-kill shelters in California.
The foundation also takes pets directly from families in the San Gabriel Valley who can no longer care for them, so those animals never enter a shelter. An all-volunteer staff holds weekly adoption fairs and fosters the animals until they are adopted. Each adoption involves an application, an interview, a home visit and a contract. The rescue stays committed to every animal for life, and the shop opens only on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
