This Placerville charity thrift shop raises money for Snowline Health, the nonprofit that provides hospice and palliative care, grief support and ElderCare to local patients and families. Sales help pay for services that insurance and Medicare alone do not cover. The stores also raise funds for Snowline's grief program, for local veterans and for palliative care. Snowline Thrift started as a small, all-volunteer effort and opened its doors 35 years ago.
The store takes donations of clothing and household items, and some of them are the belongings of loved ones who were recently in Snowline's hospice care. Employees and volunteers work alongside community partners such as AARP and Return to Work. The store is open seven days a week and into the evening on at least one day. Its long pale green sign has purple lettering and a teal heart logo.
