Run by Goodwill Industries Sacramento Valley & Northern Nevada, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose sales fund job training, the Missouri Flat store in Placerville sells every item tax-free, every day. A color tag of the week brings markdowns on tagged items all week long. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, shoppers 55 and older can ask for a discount at checkout.
The doors are open seven days a week, and the store stays open into the evening. A lit blue-and-white Goodwill sign sits high on the front gable, and donations go to a separate covered drive-up area marked by a neon "Donate Here" sign. The organization also arranges donation pickups through its ReSupply service, and donors can get a receipt for what they give.
