Donated building materials, furniture, appliances, lumber and hardware fill the Torrance ReStore, a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center run by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. Along with new and used goods for home projects, it carries vintage and unusual pieces. All proceeds from sales support Habitat LA's work to provide decent housing, and the store is open seven days a week.
Donated goods can be dropped off at the store, and pickups can be scheduled. Volunteers help run the store. A rewards program sends members text messages with surprise coupons and news of current sales. The store is in a long white warehouse building, where a blue ReStore awning over the entrance sits beside a row of shipping and receiving bays.
