Resale clothing for men and women fills this Torrance shop, part of the Uptown Cheapskate franchise. Instead of taking donations, the store buys clothing outright. Sellers bring in clean, in-style items with a government-issued ID, and no appointment is needed. Buyers review the items while the seller shops, and accepted pieces earn immediate cash or a larger amount in store credit.
The racks carry name-brand apparel, including jeans, dresses, jackets, activewear, graphic tees, skirts, shoes and purses. Sneakers, designer handbags and men's clothing are in especially high demand. An Insider loyalty program gives rewards on purchases. The doors open seven days a week and stay open into the evening, and multicolored stone-tiled columns frame the storefront beneath its silver-lettered sign.
