Clothing for the whole family fills this Walnut Creek thrift store, along with dinnerware, accessories, books, housewares and electronics. Savers, a for-profit reuse company, runs the store, and its doors are open seven days a week and into the evening. Every Tuesday is Senior Tuesday, with a discount for shoppers 55 and older, and Super Savers Club members get members-only sales.
A red lowercase sign tops the tan building, and bright green donation carts stand beside the Community Donation Center entrance. Drop-offs of clothing, shoes, books, toys, housewares, electronics, small appliances and small furniture are accepted, and donors get a discount on a later purchase. Shopping doesn't benefit a charity, but every donation does: Savers pays Partners and Advocates for Remarkable Children and Adults (PARCA) for the goods it collects.
