Every sale at Leftovers Thrift Shop goes to the Contra Costa Crisis Center, which keeps people alive and safe, helps them through crises and connects them with culturally relevant resources. The shop was started in 1976 to support the center. It began as a small storefront in Moraga, then moved to Lafayette and later to an earlier spot in Walnut Creek before settling in its current home in 2011.
The shop is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday, and takes donations during those days. Items must be clean and in good enough condition to resell. Because space is tight, the shop can't take large furniture, heavy items, televisions, microwaves, large kitchen appliances, exercise equipment or window coverings. Clothed dress forms stand in the front windows, and the doormat at the entrance carries the Leftovers name and the year 1976.
