Everything at Archie's Pantry in Ramona, California, is free: shoppers take what they need and give what they can. Friends of Generations, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, runs the store. It grew out of giveaways of clothes, shoes and notebooks to students, which led to Care Closets at local high schools and a middle school. In 2025 the Ramona Chamber of Commerce named it Non-Profit of the Year.
Donations are tax-deductible and are accepted one bag or box at a time. The store takes clothing in all sizes, shoes, home decor, books, baby items, pet supplies, unexpired pantry food, new hygiene products and small appliances. It does not take furniture, mattresses or car seats. Dishes, lamps and kitchenware fill black metal shelves with glass tops on the sales floor, which is open four days a week.
