Run by the nonprofit Shepherd's Gate, the New Life Store in Livermore sells secondhand clothing and household goods. Its sales fund the organization's programs for women and children overcoming abuse, addiction and homelessness. The store is open six days a week and closed on Sundays. A red peaked awning marks the entrance, and a vine-covered green trellis runs along the front.
Donations come in year-round at a drop-off area behind the store, with clothing in bags and household items in boxes. It takes clothing, shoes, accessories, housewares, kitchen items, small appliances and new, unopened toys. It does not take used linens, used toys, mattresses or televisions, and it cannot pick up donations. The store also gives clothing and household items directly to women in Shepherd's Gate programs and to its alumni.
