Run by Assistance League of Montgomery County, a volunteer-led nonprofit, this Conroe thrift shop raises money for community programs that serve under-served youths and adults. Items that don't sell go to the chapter's Pass It On program, which passes them to other nonprofits for their clients to use. The shop is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday.
Sales and donations support Operation School Bell, which gives new clothing and shoes to students from prekindergarten through high school and also offers tutoring and book donations. Other programs provide assault survivor kits, new box fans and blankets, scholarships, and handmade dolls and bears for traumatized children and for seniors living with dementia. The shop sits in a many-sided brick building with red-and-blue AL emblems, each marked with a red star.
