Goodwill's Rosenberg store is both a thrift shop and a donation center, so goods are dropped off and sold at the same place. Goodwill Houston, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, runs the store. Its main work is job training and placement for people who face barriers to employment, including veterans, older workers, at-risk youth, the formerly incarcerated and individuals with disabilities.
Beyond training, Goodwill Houston also teaches and hires people from those groups, and it links families and communities to the kinds of workers employers need now and in the future. The store in Rosenberg, Texas, is open seven days a week and stays open into the evening. A notice in English and Spanish on its front doors asks shoppers to leave pets at home but says service animals are welcome.
