Every sale at the Outpost Resale Shop goes toward the programs of the Calhoun County Senior Citizens Association, a nonprofit in Port Lavaca that provides meals, referral services and a gathering place for older residents. The resale store sells clothing for all ages, shoes, linens, books, DVDs, toys, jewelry, home decor, video games, bicycles, handbags, exercise equipment, electronics, and school and office supplies. Seasonal stock includes costumes and prom dresses. Racks of clothing fill the sales floor beneath wall shelves of housewares.
Donations in good, clean condition are accepted at the shop during business hours, up to an hour before closing. The shop does not take furniture, large appliances, mattresses or items that may contain lead-based paint, such as cribs and strollers. Volunteers help run the store, which is open six days a week and closed Sundays.
