Goodwill Houston, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, runs the Victory Lakes store in League City as both a thrift store and a donation center. Shoppers browse the sales floor, and donors drop off items at the same building. Store sales fund job training and placement for people with barriers to employment, including veterans, older workers, at-risk youth, people who were formerly incarcerated and people with disabilities.
The training work focuses on educating and hiring these workers so they can build careers. Above the entrance of the tan building, a white script sign reads "Goodwill Select Store & Donation Center," with stone-clad pillars on either side. The doors open seven days a week, and the store stays open into the evening every day.
