Salvation Army Thrift Store in Scottsboro is run alongside the local Salvation Army service center, which provides community-based help to individuals and families in need. The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church, and it works to meet human needs without discrimination. Money given to the organization helps pay for meals, shelter and support for neighbors in need.
The store is open on weekdays and closed on weekends. Clothing, furniture and other goods are donated through The Salvation Army's donation program, which uses a ZIP code to point donors to local options. Across the front of the brick building hangs a long white sign reading "Salvation Army Family Store," with a red Salvation Army shield at each end.
