In Reidsville, the Thrifty Boutique is run by Genesis Ministries, the nonprofit behind a discipleship program. The shop carries clothing, shoes and accessories along with jewelry, purses, books, toys, linens, rugs, kitchenware, furniture, art, home décor, sporting goods, collectibles and antiques. It is open four days a week from a low, single-story brick building with a brown shingled roof.
Donations are tax deductible and are dropped off on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Furniture and rugs must be free of stains and rips, toys must work and have all their pieces, and patterned furniture is turned away. Mattresses, large appliances, movies, music, T-shirts and building materials are not accepted. Christmas items are taken only from September on, and artificial trees only from November.
