Fort Payne's Salvation Army thrift store shares its building with the organization's local service center, a Christian charity. The center offers flexible, community-based help to individuals and families in need, so shopping and assistance happen under the same roof. Big maroon letters spelling out "Thrift Store & Service Center" run the length of the building's white front.
The store takes donated goods such as clothing and furniture, and gifts to The Salvation Army help pay for meals, shelter and other support for local neighbors in need. Its mission is to meet human needs without discrimination, and the work here follows that aim through both the thrift store and the service center. The store is open on weekdays and closed on weekends.
