Clothing, used books, dishware, toys and home decor fill the Shalimar Thrift Shop, where new items arrive every day and the sales change often. Donations are gladly accepted. Spiral racks of clothing stand on a light wood-look floor, with shelves of books and housewares along the back wall. The shop is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.
The shop shares its home with the Shalimar Library in Shalimar, Florida, and both look to volunteers to keep them going. The library runs a book swap for local book clubs, toddler story time, a LEGO Club, READing Paws sessions and a conference room for small groups. Sales at the thrift shop are the engine that keeps the library running.
