Run as a non-profit, The Repurpose Project in Gainesville keeps useful resources out of the landfill and sends them back to the public for art and education. It calls itself a junk shop for materials that traditional thrift stores won't take. It's also a creative reuse center, an art and craft supply store and an architectural salvage store.
The building is easy to spot, with pale blue walls, bold red stepped stripes and a dark domed awning over the entrance that still carries an old Mallard's sign. The shop takes item donations and offers a pickup service, and donation drop-off closes earlier in the day than the store. The organization also hosts workshops and community events. The store is open six days a week, Sundays included.
