Run by Newtown Congregational Church, the Cornerstone Thrift Center sits at the east end of the church building. Money from its sales supports the church's ministries, which include local and global aid. The shelves hold clothing and footwear, home goods, books and jewelry, along with a range of other everyday items.
Long rows of hanging clothes fill the sales floor under an exposed ceiling of pipes and ductwork, and a separate corner holds toys and children's items. Donations are taken whenever the store is open, but it can't accept large items. The store is open four days a week, Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday, in the morning only. Its sign has a green background.
