Books, music, movies and games have been traded for store credit at the Thrifty Peanut in Shreveport, Louisiana, since 2006. The used book and media shop carries a wide range of genres. Customers can bring in books, audiobooks, textbooks, comics, CDs, vinyl records, DVDs, Blu-rays and video games to exchange for credit toward their next purchase. Records have their own section in the store.
Veterans get a discount every day and a bigger one on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. During the summer, staff will check a child's school reading list and pull whatever titles they have in stock. The store is open six days a week, stays open into the evening on at least one day and is closed on Sundays.
