Volunteers staff every shift at the Assistance League of Irvine Thrift and Gift Shop, and all sales fund the chapter's programs, including Operation School Bell, scholarships and community services. Shelves hold clothing for women, men, children and babies, plus shoes, purses, jewelry, books, housewares, china, art, toys, puzzles, baseball cards and handmade cards. A red, white and blue AL logo with a star sits over the entrance, above a band of multicolored stone tile.
The shop is open four days a week, Wednesday through Saturday. Donations are taken at the back door on those days, and each one receives a tax-deductible receipt. Linens, home décor, glassware, toys, craft supplies and even broken jewelry for repairs are welcome, but electronics, furniture and child car seats are not.
