Member volunteers of Assistance League of the Foothill Communities, an all-volunteer nonprofit, staff this Rancho Cucamonga thrift shop, which is open five days a week. Its sales help fund the chapter's programs. One gives new teddy bears to hospitals and first responders for children in traumatic situations. Another helps young adults leaving foster care for independent living. The shop sits under a red tile roof with a blue Thrift Shop awning over the entrance.
The shop sells clothing, shoes and other goods. Unsold items go through the Waste Not program to organizations that help people in need. The proceeds also support Operation School Bell, which dresses students from transitional kindergarten through high school in new school clothes at 95 schools in eight local districts.
