Every sale at the Safe Haven Thrift Store provides unrestricted funding for survivors of domestic violence. The store is run by Safe Haven of Pender, Inc., and the money supports its emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis line, court advocacy, counseling, empowerment groups and housing assistance. The shop opened more than 30 years ago and is open seven days a week.
Everything on the racks is donated by members of the greater Hampstead community. Shoppers find clothing for women, men and children, along with housewares, décor, furniture and holiday items. Donated clothing and household goods also go free of charge to shelter residents and to clients moving into independent housing. The store accepts volunteers as well as shoppers and donors.
