Sales happen on Thursdays only. Payment is by cash or check, and debit and credit cards are not accepted. Donations and consignments of goods come in on Monday and Tuesday mornings. An all-volunteer sales team runs the shop, which is located inside St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville.
The Thursday Thrift Shop has served the community for 50 years. Its sales revenue goes to financial support for outreach organizations in the area, including Interfaith Assistance (IAM), the Backpack Program at FUMC, Ministry of Hope at the Black Mountain prison and The Storehouse. The parish behind the shop belongs to the Anglican Communion through the Diocese of Western North Carolina and has been active in Hendersonville for more than 150 years.
