Washington, Missouri, is home to Loving Hearts Outreach, a community organization that runs a food pantry along with outreach services for local residents. Its work includes distributing USDA commodities, utility assistance, disaster relief, referrals and a Christmas program.
The pantry and outreach services operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and clients must sign in by early afternoon to receive help. The office handles business every weekday, and donations are accepted on Tuesdays and Thursdays even though no services are offered those days. Closings for bad weather follow the Washington School District. A white sign with a large red heart outline marks the gray, metal-sided building as a community food and resource center. The organization works to fight hunger and support the community.
