Open seven days a week and into the evening, this Utica store doubles as a donation center, so clothing and household items can be dropped off while shopping. Every Wednesday, students, seniors and current or former members of the military get a discount on donated goods by showing a valid ID. Each week, signs at the front announce which colored tags are marked down, and a loyalty program turns points into credit for later purchases.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Detroit runs the store as a nonprofit, and its sales fund emergency services, food, shelter, energy assistance and camp for kids. The racks and shelves hold clothing, home goods and furniture. Out front, a blue St. Vincent de Paul sign hangs above the windows on a green facade.
