Every sale at Buried Treasure Thrift Shop supports Hardin County Pet Protection, which has been turning donated goods into help for pets since 1992 through its spay/neuter program and grants. The Elizabethtown shop opens on Saturdays and stocks glassware, lamps, clocks, pottery, cookie jars, records, books, jewelry, handbags, small furniture and pet supplies.
Donations can be left on the back porch at any time, and cameras watch over them. The shop welcomes housewares, kitchen tools, small working appliances, crafts, sewing notions, hand tools and new or like-new clothing. It does not take sofas, mattresses, large appliances, old heavy televisions, baby car seats or electronics that don't work. The shop is in a white two-story clapboard house with black shutters and a tall dark sign out front.
