Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity runs this ReStore in Ocean Isle Beach, which sells donated building materials and home goods. Builders and contractors give it reusable leftover materials as well as discontinued or returned items. Homeowners who remodel pass along their old appliances, cabinets, windows, doors and fixtures. The store is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday.
It also takes furniture and household goods, and donors get a receipt for a tax deduction. People getting ready to move can skip the packing or a yard sale altogether. The ReStore runs a pickup service that collects unwanted items from the home, and pickups can be requested online.
