Vets Returning Home, a Michigan nonprofit that houses homeless veterans in crisis in a safe, sober living facility, opened Veterans Thrift Store to help fund its work over the long term. Donated goods go first to the veterans it houses. Whatever is left stocks the store, and sales support the facility's future operations. The shop carries clothing and shoes for men, women and children, along with housewares, bath and shower goods, lawn and garden items, electronics and furniture.
Donations are dropped off at the Vets Returning Home facility instead of the store, and furniture pickups can be scheduled by sending photos of the pieces. The store is open to the public six days a week, Sundays included. A bright red awning wraps the top of the building, above black signs with the organization's soldier emblem.
