In Jackson, Michigan, the Greater Jackson Habitat ReStore raises money for Greater Jackson Habitat for Humanity, and every dollar from shopping and donating goes back into the Jackson community. That money supports the organization's mission of giving everyone a safe, decent, affordable place to live. The sales floor is filled with secondhand furniture, from wooden dining tables and chairs to recliners and cabinets, under exposed steel beams.
Donations of furniture, household items and appliances are accepted, along with cabinets from kitchen remodels. The ReStore picks up donated items and provides a donation receipt for taxes. Purchases can be delivered for a fee as a scheduled front-door service, since staff do not enter homes. The store opens Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with donations taken those same days.
