Flat River Outreach Ministries runs Treasures Thrift Store in Lowell, Michigan. All of the store's proceeds go to the nonprofit's mission, providing 40 percent of its funding and helping it serve more than 1,100 families each year. The shelves hold clothing, shoes, accessories, household goods, wooden furniture, books, toys, sporting equipment and craft supplies. New stock arrives throughout the week, and there are weekly sales. The store is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.
Donations go to a separate donation room, open Monday through Saturday. It takes clean, complete items but not fabric furniture, mattresses, large appliances or electronics. A long wooden planter box stands beside the entrance, below a dark shingled facade. Inside the store, the Farm Market sells produce and pantry staples from local farmers and producers year-round and accepts SNAP/EBT.
